Pink Mountain British Columbia
Pink Mountain, British Columbia is located on mile 143 of the Alaska Highway in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The population is 100. The area has a high population of rare Arctic butterflies, attracted by the region's blossoms. In the spring the Fireweed blossoms cover the mountain in a wash of 'pink'. Wildlife is abundant and includes stone sheep, mountain goats, bison, moose, elk, caribou, white-tailed deer,mule deer, wolves, coyotes, foxes, grizzly bears, black bears, lynx and wolverines. One of the rarer browsing species is the plains bison. Pink Mountain offers visitors a variety of interests; camping, hiking, hunting, wildlife viewing, scenic views, historic adventures and is home to an archaeological site housing an historic marine mammal fossil. |
